Mexico business aviation alert: F1, golf and Baja 1000 events drive demand through November 2026

A series of major sporting events across Mexico from late October through mid-November 2026 is expected to increase business aviation demand, putting additional pressure on aircraft parking, ground handling, accommodations and transportation.
The Mexico City Grand Prix, two major golf tournaments and the SCORE Baja 1000 create overlapping planning considerations at several popular business aviation destinations.
In addition to event-related demand, operators should be aware of overnight parking limitations at Manzanillo and increased customs scrutiny at Cancún, according to operational updates from Universal Aviation Mexico.

Puerto Vallarta (MMPR): Mexico Open demand
The VidantaWorld Mexico Open runs October 29–November 1, 2026, with event-week activity beginning October 26. International golfers, sponsors and VIP attendees are expected to increase private and charter aviation demand in the Puerto Vallarta–Nuevo Nayarit region.
Submit parking and handling requests early, and confirm current airport operating conditions before finalizing your itinerary.
Toluca (MMTO): F1 runway closures and parking pressure
The Mexico City Grand Prix takes place October 30–November 1, overlapping with Day of the Dead celebrations on November 1–2.
According to Universal Aviation Mexico, NOTAM B2285/26 includes runway closures at Toluca on October 30 and 31 from 1855–2000 UTC.
- Plan arrivals and departures around the published closure periods, and verify current NOTAMs before operating.
- Check for updated NOTAMs covering November. Additional closures may be published but have not been confirmed in this update.
- Request overnight parking early, as F1 traffic is expected to increase ramp demand.
- Book hotels, ground transportation and any helicopter transfers well in advance, as availability can tighten during the event.
Manzanillo (MMZO): Overnight parking confirmed close to arrival
Overnight aircraft parking at Manzanillo remains limited. Universal Aviation Mexico advises that requests must be coordinated in advance, with approval from the local civil aviation authority and airport administration typically provided approximately 24 hours before arrival.
Although requests are often approved, overnight parking is not guaranteed. Operators should identify a repositioning option in case their request cannot be accommodated.
Cancún (MMUN): Carry receipts for new items
Universal Aviation Mexico reports increased customs scrutiny of new items and items that appear new during international arrivals at Cancún.
- Carry itemized receipts or invoices showing the actual purchase price of new items so customs can assess any applicable duties.
- Be prepared to explain what the items are, how they were obtained and why they are being brought into the country.
Los Cabos (MMSD/MMSL): Consecutive golf and Baja 1000 events
Two major events are expected to increase demand in Los Cabos during November:
- World Wide Technology Championship: Event week November 2–8, with tournament play November 5–8.
- SCORE Baja 1000: November 9–15, with Los Cabos hosting the start and finish.
Operators should coordinate ground handling, fuel, aircraft parking, accommodations and ground transportation early. Baja 1000 racing teams and aerial support operations may also require coordination at additional airports, depending on their itineraries.
Plan ahead for Mexico operations
With major events occurring in close succession, early coordination is particularly important for operations to Puerto Vallarta, Toluca and Los Cabos. Operators should confirm parking availability, review applicable airport restrictions and make necessary arrangements for ground handling and passenger transportation before finalizing schedules.
