From June 24–26, 2025, Venice will host the high-profile wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez—a multi-day celebration centered around Bezos’ 127-meter sailing yacht, Koru, anchored in the city’s lagoon. The event is expected to draw roughly 200 high-profile guests, including celebrities, billionaires, and political figures, turning the already-crowded summer season into a high-stakes logistical challenge for anyone planning to operate into Venice.

No Official Restrictions—But Prepare for Congestion

According to Universal Aviation Italy, Venice Marco Polo Airport (LIPZ) is treating the event as business as usual—at least from an operational standpoint:

“No official restrictions at the moment, as Venice is an already busy airport. We believe that the additional traffic will be treated as usual—only quick turnarounds to drop off and pick up passengers, with repositioning of the aircraft to other nearby airports.”

Still, operators should prepare for ripple effects, as the wedding coincides with peak summer tourism and a full calendar of art, fashion, and cultural events throughout the region.

Airport Access and Alternate Planning

LIPZ is the preferred airport for Venice-bound business aviation flights. It operates 24/7 and does not require airport slots, but PPR (Prior Permission Required) is mandatory for all general aviation flights. Parking is limited—particularly for large jets—and during peak periods, turnaround-only operations are common.

Alternate airports to consider include:

  • Treviso (LIPH) – 24-hour AOE, approx. 40 mins by car
  • Trieste (LIPQ) – AOE with general aviation support
  • Bologna (LIPE) – Larger capacity and often used for repositioning

Hotel & Transport Availability Expected to Tighten

Multiple reports, including from Variety and Travel + Leisure, indicate that major luxury hotels such as Hotel Cipriani, Aman Venice, the Gritti Palace, and the St. Regis have already been reserved for the wedding party and guests. As a result, accommodations for crew and additional passengers will be extremely limited. Booking early—or planning for overnights outside Venice proper—will be essential.

Citywide Impact

The Venice mayor’s office issued a statement asserting the city is “capable of welcoming these types of events without inconvenience to residents and tourists.” Still, operators should expect delays in ground and water transportation, heightened demand for services, and localized restrictions near major gathering areas.

Recommendations for Business Aviation Operators

  • Secure PPR early and confirm handling arrangements well in advance
  • Plan for quick drop-and-go ops at LIPZ and reposition aircraft to alternate airports
  • Book crew accommodations immediately—especially if they must remain in the area
  • Pre-arrange ground and water transport, particularly for VIP clients
  • Monitor local NOTAMs and event advisories in the week leading up to the wedding
